I wanted to find out the gender as soon as I could. The doctor called me and asked if I wanted to know, and without any hesitation I said "YEP!" I was so excited. I FaceTimed my mom immediately to tell her. I was kind of bummed that I couldn't contain myself, because I didn't get to film her reaction --but it was great. I didn't get a lot of people's reactions actually haha kind of like the pregnancy announcement. I did however get to film CJ's and (one of) my Dad's reactions. [See Below.] I also got to film Pete's reaction. I had a whole thing planned of how I was going to tell Pete we were having a boy. I was trying to think of all of the cute and different ways to tell him. We went to go to dinner and I was just way too excited that if you pay attention to the video below... you'll see that I tell him before we even leave my driveway haha OH WELL! We were just so happy.
After revealing the sex of the baby to my parents and siblings, I IMMEDIATELY decided that we should have a gender reveal party for other family and friends who didn't know yet. It was a very last minute thing but with the help of ETSY and a local candy buffet business. I think we pulled it off quite nicely. I had team boy and team girl buttons. When people walked in I had the buttons as well as two jugs of lemonade - pink and blue of course. I also had clear cups with mustaches or lashes on them so that you could see everyone's guess. I also had a little table with cute confetti and handmade cards that people had to write their guess, a name suggestion and some advice. I love having them for the scrapbook. For food we had AMAZING spreads from A&S. I also reached out to an amazing Candy Buffet business called "Treat Me Sweet Candy Buffet Service" so that I would have delicious favors for everyone who came. Finally, we had a big black balloon filled with blue and green confetti that I got from Etsy. Everyone was confused when it popped though because the confetti came out and it was blue and green, but the ribbon we had used to tie up the balloon was blue and pink. So some of our guests were thinking that maybe we were having TWINS! LOL! See some detail photos below! (Photo credit: Lenny Abbot)
In Touch magazine actually covered my gender reveal party in their magazine. So that's a cool keepsake to save for the scrapbook too. It was so funny to me that everyone was touching my stomach. At that point in my pregnancy I wasn't exactly showing... I was just EXTREMELY BLOATED. I would giggle and tell them "That isn't even my uterus yet... it's just my gut." LOL. I got some nice photos from that day though. It was such a great time having loved ones there celebrating my baby. The room was just full of positive energy.
